We’re delighted to have once again made a contribution to higher value retention and optimal construction and congratulate:
the architect Abendroth and those responsible for the construction on the award!
The Abendroth architectural firm demonstrates with this house that, with strongly planned layouts and well-designed details,
many misgivings about the use of wood and solid timber construction can be dispelled.
Our areas of responsibility: Verification of the feasibility of a solid timber ceiling over the cellar.
Using the WUFI simulation software, we were able to prove that, even in load-bearing areas,
no damage can be caused by any potential condensation.

The new single-storey factory building of the Dr. Richard Linien GmbH & Co KG in St. Pölten was designed as a steel frame construction. The aim of the client and the architects was to give the industrial building an unique appearance and image that could function as a "brand".
The continuous green shell was placed as a "skin" over the steel frames and supports the appearance.

This year the XXIII Olympic Winter Games took place in PyeongChang (South Korea). This time, in collaboration with Loidl GmbH, we were pleased to contribute to the planning for an entire "Nations´ Village“.
The building components were first used in Bermuda for the America`s Cup, dismantled and then, in containers of 60 pieces, shipped to Korea. The wooden, steel and glass constructs were rebuilt at – 23 ° C (minus 23 degrees Celsius) and then stood ready and waiting, in anticipation of the games. The "Nations´ Village“ were hosting the House of Switzerland 1+2, Team USA and P&G Home, Team Italy, Mediacenter and Team Sweden.

Professor Richter´s secondary science school construction from the 90´s was a remarkable attempt at bringing light into the dark, both literally and metaphorically, and creating a modern – and at that time, utopian – glass construction. We were entrusted with the task of evaluating the current status of the building and developing an objective basis for further decision-making for the City of Vienna, in so far as how best to deal with the property in the future. It was important for us to remain as objective and respectful as possible with regard to such a legacy and its subsequent evaluation.

Residential complex for young living with flexible possibilites for usage
The flexible space utilisation concept was developed in cooperation with the magistrates of the City of Vienna and the architects in advance with the task of searching for alternative solutions for all OIB guidelines with regard to their cost relevance and structural feasibility. Based on this, the concepts of building services engineering, statics and building physics were developed in an interdisciplinary cooperation and unfortunately only partially realised.
The result is a modern, flexible and sophisticated residential building for the young and the young at heart.

The remediation work of the Viennese Votiv church has been in full swing for some time. One of the scaffolds, which are a necessary part of the completed refurbishment, will soon be installed over the point of intersection of the nave and transept for the renovation of the bell tower. The weight of this scaffold will be laid out over the existing steel structure.
To guarantee the safety of this construction, kppk structural engineering has been commissioned by the archdiocese of Vienna to properly recalculate the three-dimensional support structure. It consists of suspended roof girders on the roof valley, which unite in a steel framework grid on the ridge.
The bell tower’s support structure is based on a steel framework grid, which consists of 8 to 80cm long t-shaped steel swords that converge conically. This support structure has to be evaluated accurately in regards to the under-spanned roof valley girders, and the additional weight of the scaffold must also be considered throughout.

New construction of a garden house in Küniglberg, Vienna, with a panoramic view over the city. The mini home is habitable all year round and has a living space of 110m² extending over three floors, with the basement area being used as a living area as well. The building was conceptualized as a reinforced concrete structure with steel supports, extensive glazing and a roof made out of a steel-timber-lightweight construction. Because of the location of the house at an allotment, some challenges were faced in the process of planning. Due to the restricted allowance of the overall height of the building and the coinciding restricted room heights as well as the low construction height of the supporting structure which needed to provide the maximum of usable space, the project turned out to be extremely interesting to say the least.

This late nineteenth-century double house is connected via a staircase, and is located in the city centre of Vienna. It was modernized and extended through several conversions as well as the construction of two additional attic floors. In the case of the building located at Sterngasse, the existing atelier floor has been completely remodelled and two additional stories have been built. The building at Salvatorgasse has also been extended by two stories and upvalued by a newly built roof-top terrace. To guarantee barrier-free access to the eight luxurious residential units, an elevator shaft with adjoining platforms was installed within the intermediate stairwell. The three-dimensionally folded Alucobond-façade in the attic extension is a special eye-catching architectural feature of the building. Additionally, parking spaces for residents have been built throughout the scope of the reconstruction in the basement and ground floor.

Feasibility Study for Commercial Property
Planning: Abendroth Architects
The development of this two-level attic extension was characterized by a challenging elaborate steel construction, due to construction heights being limited. The open architecture of the newly built residential units shows in the extensive glass surfaces as well, as the modern spatial arrangement has been replaced by a classic division of the rooms instead. The concept of open living was e.g. implemented in the merger of the living room and kitchen or bath and bedroom.
The luxurious apartments including roof top terraces with a panoramic view over the city provide an interesting contrast to the existing building, a classic Viennese house built at the turn of the century. Yet, the newly built part blends naturally into the existing building. In the course of the renovation process, an elevator and parking spaces for residents were built as well.

To realize the vision of the clients and the architects, a levitating structure was placed over the landscape. New construction of the subsidized food research institute in Klosterneuburg consisting of a laboratory building and a separate childcare facility. The four-story main building was designed as a reinforced concrete structure without a basement and houses several laboratories on the ground floor as well as office spaces on the upper floor. The food research institute was conceptualized in a plain white color with a lot of window surface. It provides sufficient space for conference isles, which improve the exchange of information between employees. A new lightweight construction will extend the size of the kindergarten, which is run by the charity organization „Caritas“. The new wing houses three group rooms, a gym, a kitchen and sanitary facilities. The slightly overhanging timber construction that was built upon a reinforced concrete base plate was put up on both sides of an existing connecting corridor and integrated into the existing building. Because of the location of the kindergarten at the grounds of the retirement home in St. Barbara and their shared gardens, a cross-generational interaction between children and seniors can take place.
